Soft or even “cute” can be mistaken for “weak”, especially as a woman who enjoys cute things. I explored some typically cute things, landing on the style of vintage Rushton dolls and Valentine's cards. I was intentional in choosing a deer (Rosie) and a rabbit (Casper) for this piece, as both animals are prey and typically seen as docile. By incorporating more dangerous and edgy elements like the spiked collars and knives, I created a juxtaposition of cute and dangerous. The choice of profanity was intentional, elevating the threats of violence imposed by the characters- they mean business.
